The Motor Insurance Database (MID) holds insurance details for millions of vehicles on a national scale.
For individuals it is the responsibility of the insurance provider to get details of a policy or changes to a policy on the MID within 7 days of the effective date.
If your vehicle details are not on the MID, the driver of that vehicle is at risk of being stopped by the police and having the vehicle impounded, and possibly disposed of, if proof of insurance can not be provided.
